Paranoia was set up to be comedic science fiction in a distopian, computer regulated future. Something like THX1138 with a laugh track. I managed to run a year long campaign by tweaking it to be slightly less slapstick and a little darker.

Anyone here still play this? Or even taken away ideas and injected them into other game systems?

The computer is your friend.

I played it once or twice ages ago at school, but not since. I generally found it more fun to read than to play.

I had players who worked in state beuracracy so they had a handle on the insanity. One of the more memorable moments was a team sent to deal with a discrepancy in morgue body counts. Psion were buiding a zombie army and the Rastas were dicking with Psion. The team leader put himself through the body intake chute to see what was going on on the other side. The team camera man immediately went to the computer console to inform the system that the body count to input numbers were now rectified. Promotions all around! Although the team leader seemed to be missing, accounted for as dead but still walking around. Made for some fun follow ups.

I think the last time I played it was more than 20 years ago. Funny stuff.
