Hello all
I've finally decided that Fate is not for me, so I've got rid of my copy of Fate Mindjammer. I was wondering if anyone has the Traveller version of Mindjammer, and what it is like? I've got a player squeeing over the idea of playing a sentient spaceship!

I have it, but honestly haven't dug through it yet. I liked the original concept really well, but I haven't seen how the translated the rules over.

Sorry, if this doesn't help, but I too want to play a sentient starship.

I might just have to fork out for it, then.

I'm still trying to wade through it. There's 400 pages of new material - new for Traveller anyhow.

There's way more Mindjammer than Traveller.

It's probably the best thing that's happened to Traveller since 1248.

Thanks. Sounds like I should promote it higher up my To Buy When Feeling Flush list.

Only hitch is that it's written for MGT2. Most grogs should be able to convert it, though.

I'm thinking the same thing about Squaddies. :D

I already have MGT version 1 and 2, so that's no problem.

Post subject:  [Mindjammer] Main Sequence Orbiting O/B's

I've been looking through Children of Orion which is the Venu Sourcebook for Mindjammer. The Venu supposedly come from Psi Orionis. Presumably, they mean psi02 Ori whch is a better fit than psi01. They call the star "Gizar." They say Gizar A is a "Beta Cephei B2 subgiant" and Gizar B is a "B0 dwarf." Their orbit is less than a tenth of an AU. Gizar C is a "dim G8IV/V class dwarf" which orbits at 60 AU's. Gizar C has 7 planets. The first two are in the same orbit. Venu Prime is the fourth planet. Wikipedia lists Compnent A as B1 III and Component B as B2 V. I haen't been able to locate a definite spectral class or size for Component C.

How likely is it that a G Class Main Sequence Dwarf would be orbiting a B C;ass Giant/Subgiant? Wouldn't the ages be too far off to have evolved together?

G8 IV/V? If they all formed at the same time then the G8 would be a very young star (only a few hundred million years old at most), not about to enter its subgiant phase. The only way it'd work would be if it was an older star that was captured by the AB binary, perhaps?

I thought about it being "captured," but what are the odds of the entire system being captured? Seems to me that the planets would go spinning off into the void.

Venu Prime supposedly has liquid water and a breatheable atmostphere. Even with my limited knwledge, I don't really see how all this is possible.

The more I study this setting, the less I like it. The astronomy is all wrong.
