Is anyone here interested in playing a PbP game here at the SFRPG forum?

The game is going to be called "Mars 1900"; short version: The British Empire finds a Martian flying disc in the Canadian arctic, manages to get it operational again, and uses it to send an expedition to Mars. The player characters are members of that expedition.

Influences for the setting include "John Carter of Mars", the second Worlds of Ultima "Martian Dreams" and various bits and pieces of other SF along with my own hyperactive imagination. This Mars owes more to the flights of fancy spawned by Schiaparelli´s "canals" than to Mars as it really is.

What rules system?
One of my biggest obstacles to most new PbP games are the need to learn a new system to play.
(the high mortality rate of PbP games is just ... well, sad.)

I was thinking of a freeform game - at most, using some stats as a general indicator of how good characters are at various things. In my experience PbP doesn´t lend itself to a lot of dice-rolling.

I´ve started a thread for character creation. Any and all applications are welcome.

I promise I won´t bite.

Can´t make any promises for any of the players, though...
