Either I'm doing something very wrong (which is not as impossible as I would like), or the board is set up to use a font in displaying [code] which is not a monospace font. Monospace fonts are customary in code blocks because many languages are sensitive to the number of spaces in code. This fact makes code blocks useful for displaying tables of data in forum posts. Without the ability to fix the character width by specifying a monospace font such as Courier it is hard to lay out tables so that they are neat and clear.

It's definitely a fixed width font. I've found that it's necessary to ensure that everything is separated by spaces though - if there are tabs in there then it messes everything up. I'd suspect that's what you're running into.

Hmm. My table is nicely laid out now. I must have been doing something idiotic.

I blame advancing senility.
