I know the site's called the SFRPG site, and I like SFRPGs, and I'm kind of into traveller a little, but I like other SFRPGs too.

Anyway, is this site basically a traveller site? I see a lot of action on the traveller forums but little on the general SFRPG forums. I'm just wondering if it's basically a traveller site. I'd like to try getting some more non traveller stuff going, but most people here seem to like traveller more than anything else.

We're definitely a general SFRPG (and SF) site. We have a dedicated Traveller section because a lot of people came here from other Traveller boards, but any SFRPG is fair game for discussion. Traveller probably gets more traffic because of that 'common origin', but really the best way to get conversations going about other games is to just start threads about them and see if other people chip in :). And certainly we do encourage people to talk about other SFRPGs that they're interested in here.

But as you've probably noticed, we have a "General SFRPG" section for general stuff that comes up in SF RPGs and we have a "Specific SF RPG" section if you want to talk about a specific game, and the traffic on both boards is pretty decent. We even have a Diaspora board to support that specific RPG. So if you want to see more conversations about other SFRPGs, start talking about them :).

While Traveller is something like a "common ground", a closer look will show that
even most posts in the Traveller part of the forum are not about "pure Traveller"
and quite often about variations of Traveller that add ideas from other science
fiction roleplaying games - "tinkering" with the Traveller rules as the most often
used basic toolbox.

As for me, I am just as well "at home" with GURPS Space, Transhuman Space, the
science fiction games based upon the BRP system (e.g. Ringworld), Blue Planet and
a few German science fiction roleplaying games (Lodland, Perry Rhodan), and I am
always interested in the less popular games, like Expendables, Hard Nova or Thou-
sand Suns. The only ones I tend to avoid are those using the d20 system.

From my experience the interests of the other regulars of SFRPG are at least as wi-
de as mine, it usually just takes someone to start posting about a game to begin
a discussion of it. So, give it a try, there is a good chance that others will join in. ;)

And here I thought you were a good RPG'er.

I guess, I misunderstood and that your claim to being a RPG'er was because you are a good Rocket Propelled Grenadiar (Grenader Launcher expert.)

Do I need to make a "random off-topic banter" thread here or something? ;)

Nah, we are just showing the new guy how easy it is to get responses to a new topic.

And welcoming him in to boot. :)
