I have invented the Perpetuum Mobile. :o

The ship I designed with the GURPS system is powered by an
MHD turbine that uses 1,116 gallons of hydrogen per hour to
produce 6,200 kW.

Of these, 5,000 kW power the hydrojet engine, and another
1,010 kW power an electrolysis system that generates 1,134
gallons of hydrogen per hour from seawater.

My ship produces more fuel than it uses.

I will become rich and famous. 8-)

Huh :). Though how much water do you have to break down to get 1134 gallons of hydrogen?

According to the rules, a mere 720 gallons of water. :D

So, converting that to real units ;), apparently there's 264.2 US gallons to a cubic metre, so that'd be... about 2.72 cubic metres of water? I wonder how quickly one could electrolyse that and break it down though.

While I was very much tempted to shock the players with my
miraculous invention, I have meanwhile decided to replace the
entire perpetuum mobile system with an old fashioned fission
reactor - more expensive, but also far more plausible.

However, I think there will be an inventor in the campaign who
will offer the characters the unique opportunity to invest their
money in the new fuel-producing ships of the Snake Oil Ship-
yards ... ;)

I think you should run with it.
You could turn your game into: "What would happen if..." and consider the ramifications of such technology.
