[Derailment]Actually, it was a bust, dang boat broke down just outside the harbor, had to call SeaTow and cancel the Island, Did spend a nice night in Naples tho
:D .

We do this 3 or four times a year, Small semi private island of the West coast of Florida, tent, fishing poles, coolers, girls, ect. Wes and I have been best buds since 3 years old and the two sisters we have known since high school.

 Sometimes, we actually pray for rain, that way we can spend the whole time "indoors"

Okay [/Derailment]

Quoting Cyborg "Say 5% for Basic Metal Hulls with the percentage going down and the cost going up for more advanced materials."

Makes perfect since to me, and it would not be all that hard to add into my rules system. I do wonder however, would Different Hull Configurations require "Somewhat Different Volume Considerations for Hull Thickness and Reinforcement?

Just a thought.

For total reality, hull shape would absolutely affect hull percentage. The more efficient the hull form (spherical) then the less volume it would take to get the same hull strength. BUT, I don't know if that additional level of detail would be necessary. It would really depend on how far you wanted to take it.

If you did want to include hull form, just give an "efficiency" value to the hull which affets the percentage of hull volume needed for the basic shape. So material and shape would affect hull percentage. On second thought, that might not be too bad.

The way I do it 15% waste tonnage for air frame & +10% cost. I thought about the surface area to volume thing but decided against messing with it too.

I guess Traveller has always used "hull" in the classic sense of an enclosing skin, even in the case of dispersed structures. I can't off-hand recall a published ship that actually used a girder structure.

The illustration of the jump carrier (battle rider mothership) in the CT Library Data Volume 1 was definitely a girder-type structure.
