If you are not already aware of it, some issues of Jae Campbell's old UK fanzine for Traveller, Signal GK are available online in PDF format. Issue #13 has just been uploaded:

I had to try a couple of times (trying to do too many things at once) but it seemed okay in the end. I only skimmed it, I'll have to read through it properly tonight to see if everything is working properly.

I've had time to go through issue #13 in a more leisurely fashion now, and neither of the files seem to have any problems other than being scanned at a slightly skewed angle. I wonder what happened to the other issues, and whether they will ever be uploaded?

The scan is accurate, but the scan original was of a photocopy of the fanzine. It's the photo copy that is slightly skewed.

The PDF OCR process corrected it a little but there is only so much it can fix.

Ewan

What we have is better than what we might have had (I have LOTS of experience with OCR, and charitable descriptions of some of my experiences would STILL cause Disney to blanch), and far, far better than nothing at all. My only complaint is that we don't (yet) have the COMPLETE run of GK. ;)

If Jae would post them to me to scan I'd have them up in a jiffy, but Jae is very inclusive and Theo volenteered so we're in a wait to see how it goes getting one accorss the pond for Theo to scan mode.

I can see Jae's point and agree with his intentions, but that doesn't mean I don't want the other 8 issues to read/scan/post.

Best regards,

Ewan

22 MB for a PDF of the 32 black and white pages of Issue 13 is far too
much, someone seems to have a serious problem with his software.

It's likely that I scaned it with too high a resolution.

The problem is that it's from a photocopy and the copy quality isn't that good anyway. So if I drop mine I'm not sure if it will turn out any good.

Only one way to find out!

Regards,

Ewan

I think it is something else, because a copy of the title page of
Issue 13 as a PDF has only ca. 170 KB:
