well the best IMHO had to be MegaTraveller's world builder's handbook, if you really wanted the rules to work out temperatures and climate types, though like most referee's I just create what i need to fit the plot on the fly, within sensible limits, like no garden worlds 40 AU out from a red dwarf. Anyway coming back to the discussion in hand, why don't we just say that SR supports all previous editions of traveller and does not offer support to the Mongoose ruleset. That way we get diversity of articles, good use of backgrounds already published and it complies with the FUP.

I really like the mongoose ruleset and would love to submit empty quarter adventures for it or milieu zero adventures and useful stuff, so in this respect i don't like the present FUP.

AFAIK, that's exactly what Flynn's doing with SR.

Thank goodness, I'm really looking forward to the next issue of SR and have recently began work on my own Fanzine (which at the moment favors the T4 ruleset) called Frontier Report. Though will support all prior versions of Traveller (especially d6 versions) as they can easily be converted between each other. Sadly we will not be offering support for the Mongoose Ruleset as the FUP is far to restrictive IMHO. I'd like to especially congratulate the team at Mongoose for undermining the hitherto massive support for their own ruleset with their restrictive Fair Use Policy.

Frontier report is modeled on the now defunct MegaTraveller Journal, so quality of writing will be high and production values will be as high as we can make them.

At the moment we've got some cracking articles and are seeking submissions (note I can't afford to pay anyone so you must submit stuff for the love of it, if you want to submit at all - full credits given). I will continue to submit adventures set in gateway 990 to Flynn at SR, because I really enjoy doing these. So frontier report is not and will never compete with SR or indeed any other fanzine. The traveller community is big enough for everyone. More information can be found at http://www.the-children-of-earth.org/fo ... .cgi?b=055

Join the fun everyone!

Be sure to post in the Product Announcement section when the first issue is out. :)
