For those of you who are not already aware of it, Travellermap has an online archive of the old Canadian Traveller fanzine from the 1980s, Third Imperium, all with full permission of the originator Mike Jackson.

Ah, those heady days of dead tree fanzines, hand-typed paste-ups, sending out S.A.E.s ... :D

What was it about printing the covers for all these old small-press mags on different coloured paper?! They all seem to have been doing it!

Hey, those colour covers were radical! Not like the old days when you could only get really thin white paper into the photocopier ... :ugeek:

Issue 8 page 16 seems to be missing about 1/5th of the top part.
Issue 9 page 5, same.
Issue 10 page 19 looks like the map is not centered, part of the right side appears separate on the left.
I'm not sure if the missing is really missing, as some scans are just a little too low and white space may just be that, nothing actually missing. Still, at least two pages look to have missing text.

Heh like many fanzines, the last issue promised, in this case Issue 12 (and a Best of Issue) never seems to have happened. Love the artwork, esp. the characters, the ships & vehicles and the funnies (Traveller's Advice, PlayHiver etc.). Not bad at all for a 1986 fanzine, thanks!

Ah, I remember having to go out especially to get A5 envelopes for S.A.E.s. Brings back the taste of stamps before they went all sticky-backed ... not that that's really a good memory, damn these smell/taste triggers! :P

These are really rather good. I must find the time to have a good look at them.

I was looking through old White Dwarves from the 80's the other day and found myself pining for the pre-computer days when roleplaying games were big business and the coolest gaming visual was a well-painted miniature.

sigh.
