This just popped into my letterbox:

M-SPACE is Mythras in space, with a hefty helping of Traveller inspiration. Mythras, you may or may not know, is the new name for Design Mechanism's former RuneQuest 6 rules, re-named, re-formatted, and ever-so-slightly tweaked after they lost their licence to the RuneQuest name (all kinds of shady shenannigans there we won't go into).

The book is refreshing, not one of these colourful, overdesigned, art-heavy, yet unattractive monstrosities (MGT2, I'm looking at you). As you can see it's an interesting square format, though I can predict that won't fit neatly on any game shelf. As it claims, it's a modular toolkit and it should make a useful generic system for creating specific SF campaigns for lovers of the D100 system. There are rules for character creation, starhip / vehicle design and combat, alien creation, world building, and psionics.

It owes a lot to Traveller, as I mentioned, but I think the first thing I'll do is port my Blake's 7 RPG campaign over to M-SPACE. Our friend rust is a fan.

Oh, take my statement with a pinch of salt. ;)

I actually prefer Mythras to RQ6, so it's all good from my point of view. You wouldn't believe the trouble that name (and ducks) caused me over 30 years of trying to get people to play games with RuneQuest rules in settings like Blade Runner, Aliens, A Plague of Demons, Vietnam, Biggles, Karl May, WWI, WWII, OTU, Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Ancient Rome, Hyperboria, Barsoom, 30 Years War, etc. etc. etc.
