I don't know whether anyone has seen the furore over Chaosium's attempt to subvert the concept of the OGL with their BRP "NOGL" this week. Well, I've given up on it because the authors are clearly evading the searching questions being asked by all the people who know a bit about how a real OGL works. However, a positive not is that I've had a second, and much deeper look at the Legend OGL - mostly as a result of Chaosium's relentless FUD campaign about it being somehow dodgy and legally invalid. To the extent that I'm now working on a couple of Legend OGL ideas, one an entry-level D100 fantasy game, and the second a similarly slim SF game inspired by the old Worlds of Wonder Future*World game of interstellar exploration using gates instead of FTL ships.

Great News. I was sorry to see Mongoose basically drop their D100 line. But having Legend OGL means D100 is OGL, you just have to redo the rules, the ideas are free.

I even started working on StarLegend (D100 SciFi) that never got very far. I was HOPING that StarFinder would be good, but the initial rules were such a disaster (in my opinion). They forgot the Space in Space Opera. Couldn't even get basic 20th Century science right... (sorry getting off my soap box).

Legend is a great starting point and there are quite a few supplements to cover through Medieval periods (blackpowder weapons) and Pirates

I did run & play Traveller for years - nay, decades - using RQ2 & 3 rules (we called it Voyager, after the Space Voyager magazine), so it's interesting to note that some things may be easier to do with Legend than they were with RQ. Basically because Legend has those different subsystems.
