Less than a million miles to go now, and Charon's getting a look in too! Definitely getting a Uranian satellite vibe here...!

And here it is - the best image we've got of Pluto before the flyby! We won't hear back from NH til tonight (hopefully!) because it's busy snapping pictures of everything it can as it flies through the Plutonian system, but there's a lot to see in this image!

Is that natural colour? If so, a very interesting reddish planet...

I hope I'll wake up tomorrow to see full-detail images of the Pluto system...

Hopefully there'll be a few. They're not sending them back all at once - it's going to be spread out over several months, but we'll have a taster over the coming week.

Assuming that NH survived the encounter and reports back this afternoon (in about 3.5 hours, I think - the signal should already be on its way back!)

But for me Charon is definitely stealing the show - look at this beautiful little world! They're saying that the dark polar region is a veneer of dark material, but to me it looks more like a huge, irregularly shaped topographic depression. I guess we'll see when they get stereo or lower sun angle images that bring out the topography.

The region looks like the lunar maria. Though it´d probably assume to much to think they´re the same.

I'll just leave this here. Wow!!!!! (yes, this is an actual image of backlit Pluto, showing off its remaining atmosphere (of which apparently there is plenty left!))

Now you have to share that picture with someone in the next 7 days or you die.
