I'll spare you the pain of watching this one - don't. It's... not good.

While technically impressive (Alita is done pretty well, and the setting is well realised if not particularly well explained), the story's too dense and incoherent, the dialogue's pretty much on the "George Lucas SW Prequels" level, the characters aren't very engaging, and it doesn't end or resolve in a remotely satisfying manner (it kinda just throws it all away in the last 15 minutes). Very disappointing, especially for a James Cameron film.

I'm not sure if you'd enjoy it better if you were a fan or the original manga/anime - I hadn't read/seen it, but it really didn't work for me,

I saw the trailer and Alita herself was way too Uncanny Valley for my tastes. So I was avoiding it, even though I'd quite liked the anime back in the 90s...

She does actually have a decent reason for looking like that at least (being artificial), but yeah, it's one to avoid.

I've seen Alita 5 times. So I very much disagree.

It's better than Captain Marvel (though close).

I don't think I could sit through Alita again, ever!

And I think that if you go see Captain Marvel again, you have spent your money wisely, because it's also worth repeated viewings!
