Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjNUI1VRZio

The german SF film "Cargo" has been taunting me all month on Netflix, so I finally decided to watch it. It turned out to be really good! It's kinda like a mix of "Moon" and "Sunshine". I went into it cold without knowing anything about it, which turned out really well because the twists and turns surprised me, and it's not what I expected! The trailer doesn't really give much away (though it makes it look more actiony than it really is), but it gives you an idea what it's like.

Definitely worth watching if you like hard SF! (also, the ships are very pretty!)

EDIT: It's in German, but apparently it's a Swiss-made movie (there's a first! Haven't seen one from Switzerland before!)

While we are on the topic of good sci fi, you have probably all seen "Stalker". If you have not, do yourself a favour and see it. It is inspired by, rather than based on, the book "Roadside Picnic" which is awesome as well.

The book is really nifty and the concept is awesome... However, I thought the film was made by the same guy who did the original version of Solaris, which means it's likely to be interminably dull, badly paced, and boring? (the Solaris remake was vastly superior, IMO).

You are right in the first part of your statement. It is by the same guy. I profoundly disagree with the second half of the statement. Especially the bit about George Clooney.

There are currently three STALKER computer games: STALKER Shadows of Chernobyl, STALKER Clear Sky and STALKER Call of Pripyat. All of them are loosely based on the book and movie mentioned above and are great sci-fi/post-apocalyptic FPS games. Quite cheap on STEAM also, IIRC.
