I finally watched the first 2 seasons of Red Dwarf (and half of Season 3) this weekend on Netflix.

HILARIOUS

Although the costume changes etc between Season 2 and Season 3 were a bit jarring (where did all the leather come from???) it was still great.

Why did Holly change from the guy to the woman that played Hilly in the Season 2 episode???? And no one noticed/commented?

Planning on watching more this weekend.

Fun Fun Fun

You mean there was no in-character change-over? I haven't seen it since it was originally aired, which usually entailed missing the odd episode here and there. I always assumed that I missed the exact moment and though it was some kind of backup kicking in. :geek:

"goldfish shoals, nibbling on my toes..."

(also, note to north americans - "twat" is not pronounced "twot" :) )

I watched the last episode of Series 2 and the first episode of Series 3 back-to-back. Things had changed, but no one commented on it. Holly was now the actress from the Backwards universe (where all the men were women etc and Lister might have gotten pregnant); but no explanation.

A LOT of the props changed with Series 3, looks like they got a lot more money to spend on the show... More SPX as well, the Bug landers for example.

And it introduced 'Smeghead' as a nickname to thousands of kids.
Wonderful, They still churn out the odd episode & mini-series, although I hear they are not as good as the main series were.

Funny you should mention Smeghead, because I have heard that term on-and-off here in the states, but never knew the origin - Until NOW! :ugeek:

The term has got a rather distasteful origin which Grant & Naylor were always surprised got through the BBC censors so they therefore used it as often as they could!

I wasn't sure if they originated it, or just used it.

"Smeg" is much like "Frak". EVERYONE knows what it means, but the censors can't ban it because it is a made-up word. Got to save those kiddies from being corrupted watching an adult show after their bedtimes!

Smeg isn't a made-up word... its a shortened version of a medical term - smegma...

Go thou to a dictionary and be slightly revolted :D
