I think it's probably out of cinemas already but it should be on Netflix now if not soon - but if you can watch Annihilation then do it! And then read the book, which is even more amazing.

I won't link the trailer because it gives away pretty much everything, but it's about a team of women who are sent in to investigate "Area X", a region of wilderness surrounded by a border within which Weird Things happen. What they see there is unlike anything they have experienced before...

What's even more interesting is that the book - the first part of The Southern Reach trilogy by Jeff Van Der Meer - is a rather different story that has the same general concept but very few of the scenes from the film! So essentially by reading the book as well as watching the film, you're getting two tales set in Area X! The book sequels go on to develop the story more (I'm halfway through the second book now after reading the first one entirely in one 2.5 hour sitting!).

Anyway, I really recommend this!

Yeah, here in the States, the film got buried by Black Panther. It also got mediocre reviews, but since it s SciFi, I don't expect great reviews...

I THINK it is still in theaters, but probably not much longer.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Sounds like STALKER/Roadside Picnic! Can't wait for it to get to Netflix.

Yeah it's similar in that it's a Zone Where Weird Stuff happens. How it works is pretty different though.

I remember seeing the trailer for this movie! It looked pretty interesting, will definitely watch for it on-demand.
