I decided to get back into Elite Dangerous in November and bought myself a HOTAS joystick (the Thrustmaster HOTAS-X, which is about $70-80) and boy did that make a huge difference. I played the game when it came out at the end of 2014 and rapidly got frustrated with it but they've improved it so much since then and added so much stuff that it's almost a whole new game. I've been playing pretty much nonstop since then mostly doing missions to rack up money and then going off on big exploring trips to check out nearby (within a couple of thousand lightyears) nebulae and other points of interest.
Really I just like taking photos in it
. And I hit on the idea of making panoramic photos too, assuming the distortions around the edges of the view don't mess things up too much.
So I've ended up with shots like this (an M V star seen from the surface of one of its planets, with its B V companion star in the background):

or this (a huge carbon star, seen from the ring system of its second planet):

So yeah. I'm having fun in it again - there's a whole galaxy to explore, and recently aliens have started to show up which may or may not be hostile...
