This is pretty awesome - lots of descriptions of dead worlds and civilisations.

I love this stuff. It creates loads of mysteries, a mysterious threat, and a sense of foreboding. There was (in the bygone days of the interwebs) a site called the Silent Universe that had 3D art showing unfathomable alien ruins, with interesting stories attached.

Maybe we could come up with some more stories here?

*arise, dead thread about dead worlds*!

So I actually managed to find "The Silent Universe" website on The Wayback Machine. Most of it is still there, so if you like mysterious SF (a la Spacewreck) have a dig through it! https://web.archive.org/web/19980111040 ... /menu.html

Thank you, Dr. G. That was an excellent find.

I was re-reading my copy of Spacewreck and it reminded me of it :)

Speaking of stories, System Book 2: Xibalba is basically my take on this "space is mysterious and eerie" sub-genre. ;)

This was a feel I tried to evoke in Outer Veil's Astrography chapter, with various unexplained, or very partially explained, phenomena. Some are explained by the Ascraeus Civilization, but even it has its mysteries, and there are also the Monument Builders who are far less explainable. And strange things sometimes happen to remote colonies.
