Oh, better mention Cthulhu Rising here, too, then! It's a really good resource - pretty much everything which is published in the Chaosium monograph is also available on the site for free. John Ossoway has often made the point that he always intends to keep the CR resources available for free, and he has a prodigious output of scenarios and new material, too.

This doesn't appear to be a free download. In fact the Basic Roleplaying PDF is $28 for download. While it seems interesting and worth a look, it doesn't look OGL.

FWIW -- I Loved playing CoC back in the day. I'd be willing to give this system a going over...

All downloads from the website's download section are free, only the Chaosium monograph PDF
advertised on the website is not free.

Yeah, not exactly OGL stuff though....

Character Sheets
H.P. Lovecraft's Arkham handouts
Tatters of the King excerpt
Mansions of Madness handouts
Beyond the Mountains of Madness TOC
Secrets of Kenya handouts
Secrets of Los Angeles preview and handouts
CoC Monster Master
CoC Tables
Blank Telegram Forms
CoC GM Utilities Pack
CoC Minions Sheet
CoC Resistance Table
etc....

all standard active game company download stuff.

Ah ... we obviously are on different websites.

It seems you somehow navigated from the Cthulhu Rising website to the Chaosium website,
missing the Cthulhu Rising website's download section on the way ... :?

The downloads Vile and I mean are to be found here, those under the word "Sections":
http://www.cthulhurising.co.uk/downloads.php

However, to avoid a misunderstanding: While this material is free, it is not Open Content,
the author still has the copyright.

Aaaahhhhhh

Okay, I signed up for yet another reason to get distracted while at work. I've downlaoded and am taking a quick skim of what they have for CR. I am impressed so far. In fact, so much I'd like to package this as a stand-alone Sci-Fi RPG and then just "surprise" my players with a slowly encroaching Cthulu menace.....

but, if I only had time.....

Advice for creating games (these are fantasy; I got them from a friend when I mentioned to him that I would try to make a Fantasy Traveller. I will use them, but I felt like sharing):

http://www.gamingreport.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=listarticles&secid=3

Roleplaying Tips website: http://www.roleplayingtips.com/index.php

DMing tips, for D&D but can be useful for non D&D: http://www.dungeonmastering.com/

WotC's Tile maker: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20061121t

And two games:

Triple Ace's Sundered Skies: http://www.tripleacegames.com/SunderedSkies.php

Jorune, which is supposed to be Travelleresque: http://www.jorune.org/

I should probably bang my own drum here:

http://www.evildrganymede.net/rpg/world/worldhome.htm

A bunch of articles about realistic worldbuilding that I wrote, that most people into that sort of thing would find interesting.

OK, how many times have the players failed a crucial technology roll and you, as Ref, have had to try and make the failure interesting. "Oh, the dogulator has thrown a clange valve", gets a bit repetative.

Need technobabble in hurry? Try this:
http://www.ics.mq.edu.au/~msjj/index.html

Some examples:
Synchronize the configuration of the randomization circuitry.
Commander, the polarity of the omega pulse has been modulated.
Will decreasing the configuration of the replication system reconfigure the activation circuitry of the prototype audio proccessor, Doctor?
