In the UK bumble bees are used to pollinate tomatoes, because they use "buzz pollination" which works better on that type of flower.
And I used to work for a guy who made a wildlife film which included a sequence about a species of solitary leaf-cutter bees being used to pollinate alfalfa (in the US). Because honey bees manage to steal the nectar without actually pollinating the flowers properly.
