Here is a tech 9 trader WIP.
I've got back to fooling with blender and have done minor work to an old model
I'll be teaching myself about Cycles renderer with this
work to do; greebles and texturing

based on the model, the main ship is about 1800dtons, has about 600 dtons of fuel tanks and can carry about many many dtons of 10 dton cargo modules ( the pic shows only 640 dtons of cargo attached )
There are 8 3-dton turrets which I handwave as being 24 matching a 2400 dton ship

as tech-9, it is only jump 1 and has no grav tech at all, hence the ferris wheel
when/if I ever spec it out, it'll use HePlar

ooo nice! Have you got some kind of grain effect going on in the render? (I really should take a look at Blender someday, it seems like it can do a hell of a lot!).

No grain effect... just low sample sizes to keep rendering times down while I learn about the different texture/shader/etc nodes.
Cycles render engine is way better and faster ( and physically more accurate) than blender internal, but I got used to doing things a certain way and that way doesn't work anymore.

I wimped out a bit and just gave it a generic hull texture throughout
a little over 2 million tris made everything a pain ( the bugger's too big for my GPU to render it...memory shortage )
still oughta do some greebles on the ferris wheel

Here is a 100dton scout with AZH thrusters (note intake) and I've done the interior to make sure it fits inside the hull, too
I may do something with it someday....
...and a 50 dton shuttle for my tech9 trader, which carries 2; one dorsal and one ventral just ahead of the ferris wheel...each can hold a 10dton container completely inside.

better renders someday
