Here's a sneak preview of what I'm working on - This shows "Arm 1" (looking towards Coreward. Sol is in the bottom left corner, "above Sol"/Galactic north is towards the top), which roughly corresponds to the French Arm. It only consists of stars that are within 7.7 ly of eachother - there are no "long jumps" here, and there are no fictional stars either. The solid line is what I would consider to be "the main Arm", and all the dotted/dashed lines are potential branches off it than can be reached while remaining within the 7.7ly limit.

As you can see, there are quite a lot of reachable systems on this Arm alone! It's also worth noting that Beta Coma Berenices is not accessible without having to make up fictional stars to link it to the Arm.

For now this is just a preview - I'll be tidying it up and doing a proper write up on my website soon!

EDIT: I know there's a small error in the current map - the Gliese 1128 to HIP 31292 link is 9.6 ly long - it should go via Gliese 293 to stay within 7.7ly.
