I bought some used core books for GURPS 4E.

What did you get?

The two Basic Set books, and later ordered Fantasy in print online (it came a couple of days ago).
Edit: I already had Banestorm from a few years ago, plus a bunch of 3E books.

If only I could find players.

I really liked the Space book as the Infinite Worlds books. The world building stuff in Space 4e is some of the best I have seen.

The units are all English, rather than metric, but that is an easy conversion if needed.

Well, I FINALLY finished by latest adventure for CE/Traveller. (that took a LONG time, for no good reason).

Now I am finishing up a short story for submission to a SciFi magazine for publication and working on my next Traveller/CE book. :)

The star system and planet generation sequences in GURPS Space 4th edition are very impressive, especially in the feature that allows them to work either backwards (start by choosing the air, water, and gravity you want on a planet then calculate/generate its bulk characteristics and a star system around it) or forwards (start with a star and generate a system around it including planets down to their surface characteristics. On the other hand the wealth of detail comes at the cost of lots of die rolls, table look-ups, and calculations.

I devised an Excel workbook that does it for you, pretty well (I had to make some small changes to avoid having to use macros). I think I've shared it before, but just in case: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6e1x1x28mh4vfv8/handbook_of_the_planets-beta23.xls?dl=0

I included an option to convert the output into metric rather than US units (from the peculiar units that the system uses internally, such as AU, gees, Earth-diameters…).

Writing up scenario notes for a game I'm running at North Star Con. I need to tailor bits to the pre-gens and do a nicer version of the maps before the end of the month.

Thinking about Animals... I was really disappointed in the MGT1 Animals book, so I have been researching and writing my own. Time to dust it off and publish it.

What was wrong with the MGT1 Animals book? I ask as a zoologist - I haven't ever laid eyes on the book in question.

The book did not include the basic method to create an Encounter Table. It spent a lot of time on how to create an individual animal, but then completely dropped the ball on Ecology - specifically the ratio of Herbivores to Carnivores to Omnivores. Also, it didn't really provide anything to account for non-terrestrial worlds. For example, there is no discussion on the effects of High or Low gravity, let alone how atmospheric pressure will affect the size, or chances, of flying creatures.

Also, there were quite a few traits that were added, but every time I read one, I was like ... "But what about..."

I felt is was about half of what it could have been.

This is coming from an Engineer, I expect a Zoologist would have a lot more to say about it...

Thanks!
Sound like as a Zoologist who has done a lot of Palaeontology, I would have lots and lots and LOTS to say about it. :D
